Who of you finished watching Funny Games? Now be honest…
Michael Haneke’s view on mankind has never been that bright, but with Funny Games he delivered his most controversial work: two young boys kidnap a father, mother and child who are to suffer their share of pain, grief, humiliation and psychological torment.
As most of Haneke’s films, there is barely any musical accompaniment, except for the famous ‘hard rock scene’ in the beginning of the film and the humming sound of television and radio in the background.

The unforgiving inflexibility of this Austrian director just might be his biggest strength. Light airy music accompanying torture scenes to make them more bearable, would therefore be all too easy. Luckily we can expect more than that from the Belgium band Dez Mona, who recorded their first album in a church and have titles like ‘Etude for a killer’. The amazing vocal range of Gregory Frateur and the intimidating manner of Nicolas Rombouts, are enough to give you goose bumps. Especially for this edition, the duo will be accompanied by Steven Cassiers on drums and Sjoerd Bruil on guitar.
