Students of Sound and Music Academies from all over Europe will compete in creating the best soundtrack for an existing short film. Five films ranging 2 to 5 minutes in length and covering numerous genres will form the basis of this challenge. The viewer will get an idea on how different soundtracks can influence, atmosphere, form and even narrative structure.

The 15 nominees for The Battle have been selected, click here for more info!

Participating films:

Evol, Chris Vincze (England 2007, 5”)

Bricks, Pierre-Abraham Rochat (Switzerland 2005, 2”30)

Cookies: Save Me, Joshua Homnick (US 2007, 2”15)

Lost and Found, Neil Stubbings (Switzerland 2008, 1”40)

Anipattern #1, Francesco Siddi (Italy 2007, 1”)

The participant can choose any of five short films stated above. Remember, some films are “harder” to do than others; our jury will take this into account. The members of the jury will also focus on innovative ideas and creating a bridge between composition and sound design.

Your admission must be sent to the Festival before February 20th 2009, as a stereo audio file (wav, aif, mp3). Further details on how to send it will be sent by e-mail.
15 nominated soundtracks will be screened on the evening of Saturday March 15th at the Festival in Amsterdam; afterwards the winner will be announced.
